The sports club Berimba was founded in 2000 by Ramid Niftalijev. He was the first to start developing capoeira in Estonia and founded the Estonian Capoeira Federation.

“My first encounter with capoeira happened when I was 15, after watching the movie Only the Strong, starring Mark Dacascos.”

I was immediately captivated by this art form and began searching for information about capoeira. My interest was so strong that I started studying it actively — reading books and watching capoeira training videos. Previously, I had practiced judo and, to a lesser extent, boxing and karate, so I already had basic knowledge of sports. But I fell in love with capoeira!

Gradually, my friends joined me, and our active group was formed, which also included children. We invited instructors from abroad who shared their knowledge with us. Over time, everything became more serious, and we reached a higher level by officially registering the club.

Today, the sports club Berimba has many students. Some of them have “grown up” and opened their own clubs. It’s very rewarding to see former students now bringing their own children to training. We work to cultivate not only strong athletes but also good people.
